GCSE Results – Summer 2013

This is the first set of results for Sir Herbert Leon Academy. The comparisons to previous years’ results relate to Leon School and Sports College, our predecessor school.

We are delighted to report 49% of students achieved 5 A*-C including English and Maths; this is an increase of 9% from 2012. These results are well above the government floor standard, which states that at least 40% of students should achieve this measure. We are really very proud of this result, with it being the highest the school has ever achieved.

The other floor targets that the government set this year relate to the progress students make during their five years of education at secondary school. This is measured by comparing a student’s Key Stage 2 attainment, as they leave primary school, against what they attain at the end of Key Stage 4, end of secondary school.

Here at Sir Herbert Leon Academy69% of students in English and in 67% of students in Maths achieved 3 levels of progress, which is the aspired progress of every student during this period. We are yet to compare these results against national statistics once they have been published..

We are incredibly proud of our students attainment in this years’ results. Over one third of all our year 11 students achieved 3 A*-A grades, an amazing achievement for them and us as their educating establishment. Below are just three examples of our highest achievers:

KG - 11 A*- A grades which included Maths A*, Further Maths A*, English A*, Biology A*, Chemistry A* and Physics A.
BG - 14 A*- A grades which included English A*, Maths A, Further Maths A, Biology A*, Chemistry A and Physics A
YM who achieved 12 A*-A grades which included English A*, Maths A*, Biology A*, Chemistry A* and Physics A*

This years’ results were the best ever achieved at the site of Sir Herbert Leon Academy. We thoroughly look forward to supporting our students in the years ahead as we continue to embed and develop learning mechanisms to ensure personalised learning and achievement!
