Despite the national switch to more difficult qualifications, students at Sir Herbert Leon Academy have risen to the challenge. In addition to individual success stories, SHLA is celebrating outstanding results in Health and Social Care and Sport, with Distinction- now the average grade in these two subjects. The average points in Geography, Product Design, Catering have also improved from 2017.

Carina Scarlata is the academy’s top achieving student, with her success including four grade 8s in English and English Literature,
Science and Computing. Exceptional linguist, Lauren Jeffrey, is the first student for many years to secure top grades (equivalent to A*, A and B) in three foreign languages that she only started at secondary school: French, Spanish and Japanese.
Commenting on the academy results, Wendy Ainsworth, Vice Principal, says ‘We are very pleased for our students. They have worked extremely hard and have reaped the rewards.’
